Nanotechnology: The Revolution Continues

How Big an Industry for the Very Small?

Saturday,
February 18, 2006

Nanotechnology embraces scientific research and technology development to control and manipulate matter at an atomic scale, an effort first suggested by Caltech's Richard Feynman.  It holds the promise of numerous avenues to improve our health, our industry, and society in general.

After introducing the scope of nanotechnology development today, leading contributors to the field will present seminal Caltech-based developments in nanophotonics for the microelectronics industry, and nanoscale sensors for the real-time detection of biological molecules.  They will also address nanotechnology?s growing potential to rival the societal impact of biotechnology and information technology.
