Entretech Seminar Series

Beyond Patenting: The Value of Other IP
California Institute of Technology
(Avery Library)
7.30 am - 10.30 am
Friday, June 22, 2007

While patenting is essential for many early stage companies, it is not the only type of valuable intellectual property. According to Kaufmann Foundation's eVenturing guide: "Entrepreneurs and leaders of growing companies need to understand the basics of intellectual property law as a precursor to selecting how to best protect their intangible assets, trade secrets and know-how, trademarks and trade names, patents and patent applications, and copyrights. The range of intellectual property law protection available … encompasses almost anything of worth a company knows, writes, or does."

So how do you decide what's best for your company?

This workshop, the seventh in our series on strategic partnering and intellectual property seminars, will discuss trade secrets, trademarks, copyrights and licensing. The "other IP" will finally get its day in the sun. The event will include both theoretical overviews and case histories from presenters who have built successful businesses and significant liquidity events for shareholders.
